Justice Journeys

First Parish believes that we have a responsibility, as a community of faith, to study as disciples committed to justice and to work for justice and peace in the world.

Through Justice Journeys, we are committing to learn and journey together in an effort to expand our understanding of the world and how we can act to bring about God’s intended kingdom here on earth.

BLM, BIPOC, and AAPI Racial Justice Collected Resources

These resources have been recommended by members and friends of First Parish.  The list includes materials used in a variety of educational programs including Sacred Ground (Sacred Ground – The Episcopal Church) , Many Rivers, to Cross (The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. | PBS),White Fragility (White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism: DiAngelo, Dr. Robin, Dyson, Michael Eric: 9780807047415: Amazon.com: Books) and See No Stranger (Learning Hub - Valarie Kaur) as well as resources suggested by participants in those programs.

In the United States, racism has been woven into our history, culture, and practice.  Racism is a layer of oppression that humans have constructed and upheld.  We are working towards a world that recognizes each human as a beloved child of God and we acknowledge racism’s presence and actively work to dismantle its practices.

We recognize that there is much work to be done to create culture and practices that are life-giving for all people.
